| Clayton Horton began a career in the trucking industry in 1971 as an owner/operator for local companies. Ten years later in 1981 he and his brother started up Horton Trucking Inc. with only 3 trucks pulling flatbeds and it has grown over the years to a fleet of 22. |
| HTI has experienced a considerable amount of growth. It has gone from being primarily a carrier for Keystone to having a broad customer base of steel in Northern Illinois and farm and mining equipment in Central Illinois. HTI has also diversified its base of direct customers throughout the country in order to back haul freight more efficiently. |
